He recently accepted the position of Chief of Bariatric Surgery at the Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut.

Dr. Davis is recognized as an outstanding leader, having served more than seven years on the faculty of Columbia University’s Department of Surgery. During this time, he was the Director of Bariatric Surgery for Columbia’s affiliate programs at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ and Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. Under his leadership, both programs earned the high distinction of “Centers of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery”. Currently, Dr. Davis is the Chief of Bariatric Surgery at the Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Stamford Hospital and Assistant Professor in Clinical Surgery at Columbia University.

Dr. Davis has published many articles in the fields of bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery, including chapter publications in surgical textbooks such as The Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery. He serves as a peer reviewer for journals including Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, and Surgical Endoscopy.
Nationally Recognized
Dr. Davis is recognized nationally as a leader in his field, speaking at over thirty medical presentations across the country. Most recently, he participated in a presentation about the outcomes of Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding in low BMI patients that was accepted for presentation to the 26th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Highly Experienced
Dr. Dan Davis is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in his region. He has performed more than 1,000 weight loss surgeries using gastric banding, roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and revisional procedures. In addition, he has trained and supervised hundreds of surgeons in laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedures.
Innovative Researcher
Dr. Davis is actively involved with ongoing studies in emerging medical technology. He currently serves as co-investigator in The National Institutes of Health’s ongoing clinical study: Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery(LABS). Also of note, he was co-investigator in an FDA randomized trial for endoluminal effectiveness in the treatment of morbid obesity.
