Dr. Stephen Malley is a highly experienced bariatric surgeon who has performed more than 1500 Lap-Band procedures at his state-of-the-art Kansas City location. His practice is almost entirely dedicated to Lap-Band surgery, and he is the most experienced with the procedure in the region. Dr. Malley is committed to helping his patients achieve long-term weight loss and focuses on providing the education and support needed to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Pioneer
Dr. Stephen Malley’s interest in weight loss surgery was shaped in part from his own battle with the scale. As a pioneer in the field, he obtained Lap-Band certification in 2003 and quickly became one of the most experienced Lap-Band surgeons in the Mid-West. In addition, Dr Malley helped create a new state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center in Overland Park, in partnership with NewHope Bariatrics.
Successful Leader
In 2006, Dr. Malley was recognized as a leader in the Lap-Band System and was chosen to serve as an Allergan Medical faculty member. In this distinguished role, he teaches other surgeons how to perform the procedure in adherence with the FDA’s standards of clinical excellence. Additionally, Dr. Malley has held leadership positions in the United States Navy.

Malley Surgical Weight Loss Center has earned the prestigious designation of a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. In addition, Dr. Stephen Malley is recognized as a leading bariatric surgeon and trains other surgeons in proper Lap-Band techniques in his role as an Allergan Medical faculty member.

With nearly a decade of experience in weight loss surgery, Dr. Malley has performed more laparoscopic Lap-Band procedures than anyone in the Mid-West region. He has completed more than 1500 Lap-Band system cases.
Professionally Connected
Dr. Malley stays connected with his peers through active memberships in the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, and the American Medical Association. He attends conferences each year to collaborate with, and learn from, his colleagues. Most recently he participated in the Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium, and the ASMBS meeting: the largest conference for bariatric surgeons in the world.
