Dr. Patrick Chiasson is board certified and fellowship trained in Minimally Invasive Surgery and is regarded as a leader in bariatric surgery. He established the Surgical Weight Loss Program at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona and has performed thousands of complex surgeries. His surgical interests include the application of advanced laparoscopic and endoluminal techniques to manage colorectal diseases, solid organ diseases, and conditions involving the esophagus and stomach including the surgical management of morbid obesity.

Pioneer
As a pioneer in the field of bariatrics, Dr. Patrick Chiasson established one of the first comprehensive bariatric surgery programs in the Tucson, Arizona area offering gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. He created the Surgical Weight Loss Program at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson in 2002.

Successful Leader
Dr. Chiasson serves as the Bariatric Department Medical Director at the Northwest Medical Center and has serves as the President of the Arizona Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. Additionally, through the leadership of Dr. Chiasson and his colleagues, their surgical weight loss program earned the prestigious status of a nationally recognized Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.

Well Published
Dr. Patrick Chiasson has numerous publications to his credit in journals such as Surgical Endoscopy and the Journal of Advanced Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Techniques. His writing addresses Minimally Invasive Surgery, Health Policy, Medical Ethics and Health Law. He has also published book reviews reflecting his understanding and passion for the history of medicine.

Nationally Recognized
Dr. Chiasson is well recognized for his expertise in weight loss surgery. He has been invited to lecture and attend presentations across the United States as well as in Canada and Mexico. Most recently, Dr. Chiasson was invited to the Arizona Chapter of the ASMBS Meeting for a presentation about the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy: Complications and their Management.

Patrick Chiasson, MD fellowship trained and board certified. He completed his training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of Toronto’s highly regarded Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery and has performed thousands of surgeries in the last 10 years.

Dr. Chiasson is professionally connected as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Pima County Medical Society, and the Tucson Surgical Society.

Dr. Chiasson has been honored with the CAGS/Merck Frosst Award for Teaching Excellence, as well as the Johns Hopkins University Academic Scholarship and the Johns Hopkins University Entrance Scholarship.
