Dr. L. Albert Wetter is Director of Bariatric Surgery at Mills-Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA, and also practices at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. He has been performing surgeries for more than 20 years and has taught advanced surgical courses in the United States, India, Argentina, Brazil, Spain and England.
Pioneer
Dr. Wetter has been a pioneer in bariatric surgery since early in his career. In 2002, he completed his first course in Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, and has since devoted his professional life to contributing to the advancement of minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery.
Successful Leader
In addition to serving as the Director of Bariatric Surgery Services at Mills-Peninsula Hospital, Dr. Wetter has taught numerous surgical courses and spent 13 years as a Proctor of Advanced Laparoscopy at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Wetter has published numerous academic articles, including “Chronic Intestinal Ischaemia due to internal hernia is the preferential differential diagnosis of abdominal pain after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass”, which was chosen for presentation at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons meeting in 2003.

Dr. Albert Wetter has been honored with the Hungarian Prize from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, as well as the North East London Surgical Society Prize in Operative Choledochoscopy.
