Dr. Kim Marley is a leading weight loss surgeon, with more than 20 years of surgical experience. Dr. Marley has done extensive work with the adjustable gastric band, but he and his team tailor the procedures to the patients’ needs and desires whether gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, or revisions of previous surgeries. Additionally, has had a long and honorable military career, retiring as a Colonel after 25 years of service. He performs his surgeries at Windber Medical Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Pioneer
As a pioneer in bariatric surgery, Dr. Marley has been specializing in weight loss procedures since 1999, when he served as Chief of Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center until 2005. In addition to his extensive experience in the military, Dr. Marley has performed over 650 weight loss procedures at Windber Medical Center since his arrival there in 2006. In 2009, the hospital and Dr. Marley earned designation as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.
Successful Leader
Dr. Kim Marley is Chief of Surgery and Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery program at Windber Medical Center, in addition to his busy surgical practice at Alleghenies Surgical. Dr. Marley served in the Armed Forces for 25 years, holding numerous leadership positions before retiring as a Colonel. He spent his final 10 years of service teaching at Walter Reed as the Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Dr. Marley is nationally recognized as a leader in his field and a pioneer in weight loss surgery. He is a consultant for Allergan Medical, makers of the Lap-Band, and serves on several committees for the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Kim Marley is recognized as an expert weight loss surgeon, specializing in laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding. He developed several military bariatric programs and taught numerous surgeons in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgical procedures.

Dr. Marley is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Additionally, he is a member of the Quality and Standards Committee, the Rural and Low Volume Subcommittee, and the Task Force for Credentialing in Bariatric Surgery for the ASMBS.
