Dr. Kevin Montgomery is a highly respected and experienced laparoscopic bariatric surgeon. Prior to joining the Northwest Weight Loss Surgery Center in 2002, Dr. Montgomery was a busy staff surgeon at the Everett Clinic in Everett, Washington for 10 years. He is an innovative researcher, and is currently a Principal Investigator for several key studies in bariatric medicine.
Dr. Montgomery is a true pioneer in bariatric surgery, and has spent nearly 10 years working exclusively with patients battling obesity. He is committed to involvement in clinical research, cultivating innovation in the field, and advancing surgical techniques.
Through the leadership of Dr. Montgomery and his colleagues, Northwest Weight Loss Surgery has been designated as a “Center of Excellence”. This prestigious certification has been granted for both their clinic and surgery center, for meeting stringent standards in surgical care.
Dr Kevin Montgomery’s vast academic publications include work on adjustable gastric banding in an ambulatory surgery center, and studies on laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding outcomes, including quality of life at one year, and the experiences of 400 consecutive patients.
Dr. Kevin Montgomery is recognized as a leading bariatric surgeon not only in the Pacific Northwest, but across the country, as well. Recently, he was a guest lecturer at the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’s Fall Conference, where he shared his expertise in Adjustable Gastric Banding Outpatient Surgery.
Dr. Montgomery has dedicated his career to helping people lose weight since 2002, when he decided to leave his position in general laparoscopic surgery to focus on patients suffering from obesity. Since then, he has performed thousands of weight loss operations.
As a lead researcher in his field, Dr. Montgomery is currently a Primary Investigator for several on-going studies, including the LBMI (“Low Body Mass Index”) LAP-BAND study sponsored by Allergan. Also of note, Dr. Montgomery will be a Primary Investigator for a new 14 week urge incontinence drug study.
Kevin Montgomery, MD is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the Council for Advances in Bariatrics and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
