WeightWise Bariatric Program
Dr. Gregory F. Walton has more than 15 years of surgical experience. In 2006, he created Transforming Lives, PLLC and opened the WeightWise Bariatric Program in Edmond, Oklahoma. He has dedicated his professional life to transforming patients’ lives through weight loss surgery, with more than 450 weight loss procedures performed at his program in the past 12 months.
Pioneer
Dr. Walton’s passion for helping people through surgery stemmed from his own devastating injury from an oil field explosion, resulting in burns to more than 75 percent of his body, which required 20 operations. After beating odds that gave him a very low chance of survival, Dr. Walton went on to become a highly compassionate and successful surgeon.
Successful Leader
In 2006, Dr. Walton and his partner created Transforming Lives, PLLC and opened Summit Medical Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. Through Dr. Walton’s leadership, the practice has become one of the most busy and well-respected bariatric programs in the nation. Dr. Walton is currently the Chief of Staff at Summit Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Walton has served as President for both the Garfield County Medical Society and the Carraway Alumni Society and was Chief of Surgery at Bass Integris Hospital.
Nationally Recognized
Dr. Greg Walton has given several professional presentations at national meetings, including “Laparoscopic Repair of Paraesophageal Hernias” for a meeting of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, “Burns in Children: A Comparison of Accidental and Nonaccidental” for the American Trauma Society, and “Periampullary Carcinoid Tumors” for the Southeast Surgical Congress. Dr. Walton’s medical publications about Tumors of the Ampulla of Vater have been published in the well-respected medical journal, American Surgeon.
Highly Experienced
Prior to creating the WeightWise Bariatric Program, Dr. Walton had a successful and well-rounded general surgery practice for over 10 years. His bariatric program is one of the safest and well-respected in the nation, with more than 2000 weight loss operations performed without a death, and with very few complications. Dr. Gregory F. Walton is also highly experienced in the gastric sleeve procedure; his program has performed over 1,000 gastric sleeves.
Professionally Connected
Dr. Walton is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons, Oklahoma Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Southwestern Surgical Congress, and the SAGES. Dr. Walton also serves as a proctor, teaching other surgeons to perform the gastric sleeve procedure. He also serves on several community boards and is a supporter of many local charities.
