Dr. Gerardo Cárcamo has nearly 15 years of surgical experience, performing general surgery in San Antonio since 1997. He received advanced training in adjustable gastric band surgery in 2003 and has since been specializing in the procedure as well as in the gastric sleeve and gastric bypass. Dr. Cárcamo also has experience dealing with a wide variety of problems such as gallbladder disease, hernias, intestinal disorder, breast disease and cancer. As part of South Texas Surgeons, he now also offers the Orbera weight loss balloon and vBloc device.

Pioneer
In 2003, Dr. Gerardo Cárcamo and his colleague, Dr. Keith Wright, founded South Texas Surgeons, PC.  The began their practice as a pioneer in the region, as San Antonio’s only bariatric surgery practice specializing exclusively in adjustable gastric banding. They now perform many gastric sleeves and gastric bypasses, in addition to bands.

Successful Leader
Through the leadership of Drs. Cárcamo and Wright, South Texas Surgeons has been used as a model for training other surgeons. Their program is a model not only in surgical techniques, but in postoperative and nutritional care, as well. The practice has also earned the prestigious designation of a “Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence”.
