The N.E.W. Program
Dr. Brian Quebbemann is a nationally respected expert in bariatric surgery. He has practiced surgery in Orange County since 1997 and his practice currently focuses entirely on laparoscopic weight-loss surgery. He is invited to speak at expert panels and meetings across the country and has made appearances on several media programs. Dr. Quebbemann’s main areas of interest include improved lifestyle and behavioral management, clinical research, credentialing and training of laparoscopic surgeons and establishment of comprehensive, multidisciplinary bariatric programs.
Pioneer
Since first establishing his practice, Dr. Quebbemann has been on the forefront of surgical innovation in minimally invasive surgery. In 1999, he founded CALSURG, Inc. (Center for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery), where he initiated the first laparoscopic bariatric surgery program in the area, was the first center in North America to place the intragastric Dual-Balloon, and performed the first single incision sleeve gastrectomy using the SPIDER system.

Just a year after he founded CALSURG Inc., Dr. Quebbemann created The N.E.W. Program, a comprehensive medical and surgical weight loss program recognized in the bariatric industry as one of the most integrated bariatric programs in America.

Dr. Quebbemann has published dozens of articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, through his work at the N.E.W Program, he has developed numerous educational materials for bariatric surgery patients and practicing physicians.

Innovative Researcher
Dr. Quebbemann was invited to participate in the FDA trials for the Lap-Band®, making him one of the first surgeons in America to perform gastric banding. He was the first American surgeon consulting on the ReShape Dual Balloon and helped design their FDA trial. Current clinical trials include single incision sleeve gastrectomy and gastric plication using the Transenterix SPIDER System.
Professionally Connected
Dr. Brian Quebbemann is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery where he serves on the Insurance Committee and the State Chapters Committee. He is also a member of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons where he served on the Credentials Committee.
