The Association for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery has just announced the results of their 2011 election. Doctors of Weight Loss Inaugural Expert Dr. Jaime Ponce has been elected President of ASMBS for 2012. Dr. Ponce’s previous ASMBS positions have included: Chair of the Insurance Committee, Co-Chair of the Insurance Committee, Executive Council Liaison for the Public Education Committee, Founding Member & Vice President of the ASMBS Tennessee Chapter, the Research Advisory Committee of the SRC , and Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the SRC.
Dr. Ponce practices in Dalton, GA and Chattanooga, TN, and has extensive credits in the Northwest Georgia and East Tennessee region where he was the first to: establish a laparoscopic bariatric program & outpatient Gastric Band program; perform a Gastric Band procedure, single-incision bariatric procedure, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and laparoscopic greater curvature plication procedure; and place a dual intragastric balloon.
